INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Instructions to enter the Registration Key in GASP® Report:
1. If you have downloaded the GASP_bsa.exe application you will need to
unzip
the file onto your hard drive. GASP Report is one of the several application
files that are unzipped into this C:\GASPDISK default directory.
2. Locate the ISHELL.exe file to provide the menu options for installation.
Select GASP Report.
3. Click “Next” after the welcome screen. Accept the License Agreement to
continue through the installation as directed until the “Get Registration
Information” screen displays.
4. Delete any information in the Registration Key field and enter in your
company name displayed in the BSA emailed auto-response. The GASP 5.2.5b BSA
Registration key that was automatically generated and emailed to your attention
provides a 100 user, 60 day limited, software only license for t
he GASP BSA
software. Without using the BSA registration key, there is a regular 10
user
free DEMO limit. Make sure to include all punctuation, spaces and UPPER, lower
case in this registration key to activate your full 100-use license.
The “-BSA”
at the end of the company on the registration key form needs to be included in
the company name to successfully activate the BSA license.
5. Continue with the installation prompts as directed. Accepting the default
file directories are recommended. Write these directories down for future
reference if needed. Click “Finish” to complete the installation of GASP
Report.
6. Execute GASP Report. Click Start >Programs> GASP 5 BSA > GAS
P Report. During
the first execution of GASP, all of the data files and indexes are cre
ated. This
can take a few minutes to complete the final installation. Subsequent execu
tions
of GASP will not require this process.
7. Once you have finished loading GASP Report on a Windows 95/98/ME/NT
or 2000
workstation, GASP Audit does not require any installation.
Creating Audit Diskettes & Auditing Stand-Alone or Laptop PCs
Follow these steps to create an audit disk and collect data from each
stand-alone or laptop PC. This audit program runs from a floppy diskette.
1. From the GASP Report Menu Bar, select Audit > Create Audit Disk. The
GASP
Audit Configuration Editor displays.
2. Select the Platform for the audit disk. A). Win 95 / 98 or B). Win NT
/ 2000.
3. Use the Create, General, Software, Text, and Fields tabs of the Audit
Configuration Editor to set other audit options. Details of configuration
options are contained in the GASP 5.2 Documentation.
4. Once you set the options you want, click “Save”. Note: Wait until the
‘Configuration files written successfully’ message no longer displays before
continuing.
5. Click the “Create” tab to return to the Create page.
6. Select the A:\ Drive that contains the floppy disk on which the audit program
will be created.
7. Enter the Count (the number of floppy disks onto which you want the audit
program copied).
8. Insert the first blank formatted disk in drive and click “Write Audit to
Disk” or “Write Audit to Drive”.
9. Remove diskette and label accordingly once the configuration has finished
writing to the disk.
10. Insert the GASP Audit disk in the floppy disk drive of PC.
11. Select Start > Run and input A:\GASP32W.exe and click “OK”.
12. Enter a User defined fields or and (when applicable).
13. Click “Continue” to begin the audit.
14. Repeat process on other systems.
Import & Process Audit in GASP Report
15. Once the audit is completed, open GASP Report, and from the GASP Report
Menu
Bar, select Audit > Import audits. The Import Audits prompt displays.
16. Browse to the directory of the *.SAZ audit file. Since the audit is on
the
floppy, browse to A:\ .
17. Select “Import & Process”. This will import the audit and introduce the
data
in the GASP Report database.
18. Once the audit is successfully imported, the data can be viewed in the
groups, listed under the computer name. For more details on using the
Identified, Unidentified, and All Files tabs in GASP Report, please refer to the
GASP 5.2 Documentation.
Generate Reports
19. To view the audit computer data quickly, there are 25 reports to sel
ect and
generate reports.
20. Start with the Identified Software Proof of Purchase by publisher. This
will
summarize the total Identified software installed software by publisher.
